"Feed me, Seymour!"

Maddie and I found this "Siamese twin" daisy on our walk the other day. It so reminds me of that movie with the human eating plant... the name escapes me at the moment. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. Anyway, it's really interesting to see that plant DNA messes up too, but it's not as tragic as a human of course. Makes me thankful for a health baby, even when she's having a fit!
I call this, "Me and my shadow," which is a good name for Simba! He's always there when walk up the street.

AMA Motorcycle Race in Fontana, CA

Saturday we went up to Fontana to see an AMA race. It was in the 90's but the wind was really blowing and it kept things tolerable. Maddie wasn't exactly thrilled with the day, but hopefully the next time we are close to a race, we'll find a babysitter!!! We saw a Kentucky boy (Owensboro), Tommy Hayden, get 3rd place. That's always rather neat. He and his two younger brothers race. We saw their dad in the souvenirs area. We should have gone up and talked to him, but didn't.

I finally got some pictures of the famous "Shoeshine" kitty who Maddie and I visit almost everyday. You've seen pictures of Simba (or Mr. Orange Kitty as titled before we knew their names). Maddie loves to sit on the ground and let Shoeshine rub up against her. Sometimes he can knock her over if she's standing. So cute! He's such a beautiful cat and very loving.

Maddie loves to put on your sunglasses when permitted. These actually stayed on long enough for a quick picture.

Have a great Derby week! We will be watching on Saturday!

Handlebar mustache?

Ah, cupcakes... Candy and Greg made some delicious cupcakes yesterday and shared them with us. Maddie REALLY likes them!

My feelings exactly...

If you click on this link, it takes you to some wav files of Yosemite Sam. I've been searching for his famous, "IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII hate you...................". Yes, hate is a strong word, but it's what I was thinking when they were bulldozing and weed eating early in the morning.

Liar, liar, pants on fire!!!

The construction is going strong. They (a project manager for the Terranea mess) told me over a year ago that they wouldn't do any house-rattling work until after 9:00am because of my sleeping child. Well, not only have they started working from 6am to 10pm (guess they're off schedule), they started this garbage up again. They piled up the dirt, then smoothed it down, then piled it up again and sprayed this green stuff all over it to make grass grow. NOW they're digging it up again. I would think that the reason they are off schedule is because they don't know what the heck they're doing!

Anyway, I went out on the balcony in all my glory, purple sweat pants, gray t-shirt with holes in it and glasses. I took a short video of the guy in the bulldozer thing. He looked up at me a couple of times and probably wondered why this fat, terribly mis-matched woman with fire coming out of her eyes is doing with a camera. Oh well, let him wonder. As Jason has said before, I would like to take some heavy equipment to each and every one of their houses and start her up when they're trying to relax or (gasp!) sleep. They are now using weed eaters to take down the grass. That's also a lovely sound, but nothing compared to the big orange monster in the back yard. Of course, we received the minutes from their last meeting with the home owners association of Sea Bluff and they will be taking down the temporary buildings right behind the house in December of 2008, right when we're leaving. Isn't that just typical???? They started building those buildings the month Maddie and I moved out here and now, they'll be done the month we leave to go back to HOME. Doesn't that just sound like my luck?????

Here's my proof for when they lock me up in the loony bin for going crazy and pelting each worker with eggs from my balcony or something. Actually, I'll have to find something cheaper because eggs are really freakin' expensive out here.

Sorry it's been a while!

I haven't posted anything in quite a while. I guess we've been busy. In a nutshell, Maddie and I surprised Grammy with a birthday visit in KY for 3 weeks. During those weeks Maddie had a cold, ear infection, then Grammy got the cold, then Maddie got a stomach virus in which she shared with me! Whew! Not a very productive visit between the illnesses and the snowy weather. At least Maddie got to see snow/ice. Here are some pictures from our visit:

A small ice storm. Poor dogwood tree!

Maddie wearing my old snow suit. Yes, it's still intact after over 33 years! Maddie wasn't so thrilled with the cold temperatures. She better get used to it come winter of '08!

A small birthday gathering for Grammy. She had no idea that her friends would be showing up here and there all afternoon!

Maddie used Grammy's treadmill as a slide. That's one way to use it I suppose! She was just intrigued with Grammy's gloves for the fireplace. She wore them quite often during our visit.

We made a trip to Howard and Curry's shoe store in Lexington before the illnesses hit. Maddie has gone up a size or so since we got her first shoes in November. I had to share the terrifying, I mean, talking tree with her from my childhood. This tree used to scare the stuffin' out of me when I was little. Maddie was unimpressed. I think it's funny how little this tree really is. It seemed like a redwood when I was small. Oh, and this is a blueberry beauty mark... We had some blueberry pancakes and one stayed behind.

We did some visiting between the cold/ear infection and the stomach virus. Thankfully no one we visited got our germies. We went to Grammy and Pappy's where Maddie had a big time with their two dogs (Sage and Abigail) and six cats (Heddy, Stiltz, Socks, Bushrod, Emmy Lou, and Holly). The dogs kept licking her in the face and she would laugh. The kitties weren't too thrilled with a kid in the house, as most kitties would agree. We visited with my friend, Lisa, and her four kids. Danger Deb and Maddie had a good time. We also got to visit with my friend, Charla, and her daughter, Bella. Bella has graciously donated her Barney videos and stuffed animal to Maddie (thanks Char...."I love you, you love me, we're a happy fam-i-ly")!

We met Pappy and Grammy at Juniper Hills Park towards the end of our visit. She loves the slides! There was a nice man there with his Chiuaua, Pete. Pete has his own wardrobe... Come to find out, the man is related to Grammy's side of the family! Small world.

Grammy & Pappy brought a little bunny for Maddie. It makes bouncing noises. She loves to carry it around the house. We also got to play with Ava (or as Maddie says, "Ah-va"). She's just 3 months younger than Maddie. It was a wonderful surprise to run into Dr. Nicole and Jason, Ah-va's mommy and daddy.

As a sweet idea I heard from G-Judy, I made a half of a birthday cake for Maddie's 18 month birthday. This was before we went to KY, but thought you'd get a laugh out of my sorry baking work. Not every day you turn 1 1/2!

O.K. So now you're at least caught up through early March. I'll post Easter pictures soon. Maddie is almost up from her nap so I won't have any more computer time...

18 months old!

Maddie turned the big 1 1/2 on February 1. I can't believe she's halfway through her second year. We had her pics done at Sears and I'm not very thrilled with them, but here are a few. They just didn't get the big smiles as well as I trimmed her bangs and they're crooked!!!
