All this fall Maddie has been telling me she wanted to be a doggy for Halloween. Well, I found a costume since I'm sewing-challenged and it turned great. It was comfy, except on the warm side. She wore it twice. We went trick-or-treating in downtown Georgetown on Friday afternoon, and then at Fayette Mall on Saturday night. Some people thought she was a boy since they couldn't see all that hair under the hood, but girls can be doggies too! I put some whiskers and a nose on her with some eye liner and away we went. She really got the trick-or-treat thing this year. The last 2 years it was really mystifying her as to why we were going to our neighbors' houses and they gave us candy. She's really getting into it now and next year will really be fun! I hope you all had a spooky and fun time. Now it's November and it's time to get used to the cold weather again.
Take care! (sorry for the phone pic, but haven't uploaded the camera pics yet)
Woof, woof!!!

My 3 year old!
I made it through the terrible two's... not that anything has changed all that much! Here are some cute pics from Maddie's birthday bash on August 1st. We had her cousins over as well as other family members and our new pastor's wife and girls. Maddie had a blast and loved every minute of it. She wasn't even freaked out when we sang "Happy Birthday" like she did last year.
Ariel (a.k.a. Little Mermaid) is Maddie's favorite princess right now. She's always liked her and the movies. She likes to sing along with the song, "Part of Your World." She doesn't have a sudden birth mark on her face, it's chocolate cupcake remnants...
I'll have some other pictures to post later this weekend. My sister-in-law made a copy of her pics for me.

Maters and Miscellaneous
Daggon storm last night broke over a limb of my mater plant, grape tomatoes.
It also bent this one completely over, Goliath tomatoes.

Maddie wanted to see my piccolo and I told her where to put her pinkies and she just figured out the rest... The flute is a little too long and awkward for her still.
This cutie is a neighbor dog who escapes from his yard every once in a while and comes for a visit. His name is Oscar and he's a Lhasa Apso and he's just friendly as can be. We really like it when he visits and we "have to" take him home.
Nothing much going on here. It's rained and stormed a LOT. We keep having tree limbs down but nothing terrible. Sorry all these pictures are phone taken, but that's what I had available at the time.

1st POOL time in KY
Maddie shivered and shook, but she had a lot of fun in the new little pool! I'm sure we will be enjoying the pool (if the rain stays away for a while) until I get a job. Gotta think positive, right?!?!?
My tomato plants are in the background. I'm so proud of them since I definitely do NOT have a green thumb.

Wow! Second post on same day!!!
At the instruction of "thecrazysheeplady" I am posting some cute photos of one of the baby bunnies in our yard. He or she is the only one hanging out near the nest. The tall grass was in the way, but if you click on the picture, you can see a lot more detail.
Their nest is in the tall grass below the tree. I found it while mowing before any tragedy happened, thank goodness.
We went to the Bluegrass Border Collie competition at Masterson Station Park last weekend. I got several little sheepy things at the various vendors, including from the above mentioned "crazysheeplady." She brought her adorable two baby lambs, Keebler and Graham Lamb. They are 5 and 3 weeks old, respectively. The border collies are amazing. It was very interesting watching them work and herd all the sheepies to where they were supposed to be. This was my first visit to this event.
Silliness
Jason and Maddie were playing with water. That's a bad combination when you add dirt with grass seed which turns to MUD when watered. She had the best time though. As soon as she came in, we had to put her clothes in the sink to soak and her in the tub to soak!
These are my Mother's Day flowers from my Mom. Maddie has her pretzels, of course...
I love this picture. It's simple but it shows her true self.
Mad says this is a bird.

Illin' and chillin'
Well, since we've returned to good ol' Kentucky, we've all three been sick. Maddie started the ring around the rosy, then I joined in, and for fun, do did Jason. Maddie and I are fever-free and getting around much better now. Jason is still hanging on to a fever but it still trying to work.
Sorry for the little information.
Hopefully we'll have some more to report very soon!

Name change!
Instead of "Kentucky Girls, 2,200 miles away from home" -- I'm officially changing it to "Kentucky Girls -- my ol' KY home!" We will start driving either tomorrow afternoon, or early Wednesday morning. The packers are here, the moving truck man is here taking inventory. It's all in the works. I still can't believe it. California is absolutely beautiful and I've made some wonderful friends here. It's going to be hard to leave, but we have missed our friends and family back home. I'll update the blog when we get the computer set up again at the house (and internet service acquired). I will have access to email thru my phone. We will see you soon.
Love,
Jason, Shelley, & Maddie

Few more pictures
We went to "Whale of a Day" in 2007 as our first activity in the spring after we moved to California. It's an annual celebration in Rancho Palos Verdes of the migration of whales along the CA coast. We also went this past March 7th. Here's a look at then and now (same tree we think).
Our sweet South Bay stay-at-home-moms group gave us a farewell potluck at Polliwog Park in Manhattan Beach. We had pizza, salad, and chocolate covered strawberries. Maddie LOVED these cool swings. I've never seen any like this before, but I'd like to find some in adult size. Almost an easy chair swing!

It's been a long time...
Finally, a few things to post and the opportunity to post them!
Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach
Los Angeles Zoo
We've visited some places in February that we've wanted to see for quite a while. We've got to narrow down our list before we leave THIS month!
LaBrea Tarpits
Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach
Los Angeles Zoo
And a very short video of Mad playing on a hippo with a billion other kids around the place. I told Jason I knew what it felt like to be in a bee hive now... LOTS-O-kids!!!

"If you build it, they will come"... But what happens when you tear it down?
So most of you have had to listen to me complain about the construction behind our house. Maybe not HAD to, but you did anyway. Thank you for that. Anyhoo, the buildings are now gone and they are using huge earth movers to grade the dirt around the area where the buildings were. Very loud, very frustrating, but hopefully temporary.
Amazingly enough, only a few hours after I recorded the above clip, they are now digging again. Instead of making it level as they were this morning, they are making a new trench... I really don't know the method of their madness, but I've certainly seen a method to my madness!
